well my headlights stopped working so i checked the fuses and all are good. then i checked the headlight switch harness in the dash and the white/green wire looked burnt right into the connection harness. i played with the wires a little and the white/green wire broke off. then i just decided to turn on the headlights to see what would happen and to my surprise my headlights work??. but now my parking and dash lights are out??? also i have h.i.d. lights with ballasts... could that be a part of the problem too??

 

I'll toss in my 2 cents.
The headlight switch is probably what is running the HID's.right?.I am thinking excessive current draw,which would melt the stock wiring,driving everything Nuts.
Myself I put on a 4 Light kit.I wired the Lights as 4 HI and 4 LO(each is a hi/lo headlamp).I installed then so the HI's have a relay.The Lo's have a Relay,..The stock Harness that goes to the lights still retains it's relays and functions only to provide power to the relay that I put in,so it doesn't draw any more current through the stock headlight switch.
I'd look into getting power to the ballasts some other way to take the current draw off the stock headlight switch.
..question: do you think that white/green wire that is broken would have anything to do with your other lights not working?..( I would assume it does,since you said it worked before).
