I bought an 81 rx7 off a guy and it had trouble staying running when you stopped at a stop sign driving. The car had not been started for probly 20 years and I bought the holley kit off Racing Beat. I put the kit on and it seemed to run fine but after running for awhile it boggs down. couple questions on some stuff.. Should i get a new in line fuel pump, i pre mixed the gas(do I have to have those lines hooked up), i didn't take all those vacuum lines routing every where off because two run to the distributor( ive noticed in pics people took that stuff off, and if I take it off do i have to have vacuum to those??) and on my carb in the front it has two male ends. Is one for the oil lines and one for vacuum?? sorry for the long post but i figured someone knows all my questions THANKS!

I don't know all the answers to your questions but if the car hasn't been started for 20 years there is a good chance the fuellines, gastank and fuelpump still have gunk in it because old fuel tends to turn in to varnish.

I think you have to look at these things and renew or clean them first before you go tinkering on the carb. When this is done and the problem still exists then you go from there.
My Fb stood still for 4 years and was only started now and then but i also had trouble with the old fuel.

basically as marx said. what needs to be done.

If the car has been sitting for a while...

1: Drain the tank and lines of old fuel.

2: Remove and replace fuel filter if applicable
(take this time to inspect your fuel lines with a flash light down the piping for rust or debris and R & R if needed)

3: Remove and inspect if possible the fuel pump: R and R if needed.
(take this time to inspect your fuel lines with a flash light down the piping for rust or debris and R & R if needed)

4: Prim the carb (if the floater doesn't work-rebuild the carb)

5: Add fresh fuel, turn the key to the ON position-DON'T start! Let the fuel into the lines.
(Do this for 3 to 5 times)

6: Start the car and inspect for leaks.

Yea i had taken the tank out and put fresh premixed gas in. i actually put to fuel filters in just in case and they didnt rust up or get dirty im thinkin i jus have a couple simple problems. fuel is coming out good. I need to get a good fuel pressure gause cause i found this rinky dink fuel pressure gauge my dad had in his garage. what should i do bout those vacuum lines going to the distributor. do i just hook them to a good vacuum source, and which male end on the carb is a hook up for the secondaries. (my first carb job... used to fuel injection... ha)
