GS just died while driving
My 1985 GS model just lost power when going 55 in dry weather. Why?
I was told I needed plugs, wires, rotor and cap. but why did it just die? Were the wires so bad or plugs that no spark was sent? The wires were bad when raining.
And it took about 10 seconds to start a couple of days before. I changed all the stuff and so far no problem.

Hard to say why it died, but you knew about the wires, etc.
So that would be a good starting point.
Internet diagnosis is only as good as the info that can be given.
Examine your wiring, plugs etc..change them if you know they are bad or need replacing and then if the problem persists,Post back up and state what you did, what the car is doing.
My best guess right now is that the ignition just gave up and needed to be replaced but was neglected.
