Ghost Electric Problems
OK, guys and gals, this should be a fun one. Just when I thought my project was almost finished (ha), a new problem pops up. This is an 88 stock vert. Sometimes, but not always, when cold (a relative term in SC), meaning an overnight term, I have no power in the Logicon switch when I start up the car. I also have no power to the wipers. Everything else works, except the clock keeps time but the display fades in and out. The radio works, the warning lights work, the flashers work, the top switch works, the power outlet works, everything else electrical seems to work. After about ten minutes of driving, they come back to life. This doesn’t happen every time, just when I might want to use them, of course. I looked at the fuses and wiggled the connecters I could get to easily. I’m reluctant to pull the Logicon out since I just spent a lot of money replacing all that trim around it and I don’t want to break any of the fragile stuff.
Any ideas?

The clock display fading in and out and sometimes no power to the logicon sounds like a bad soldering point. My RX7 had that problem, too. I opened it and resoldered all the points which looked somehow broken. Now it works great. It always happens to you when it's cold because the metal is working and shrinking a bit when the temperature drops.
Your powerless wipers could be nearly the same problem but inside the wiper switch. I guess those Mazda guys weren't really good in soldering something.
