getting my other n/a 87rx7 rebuilt and ported.

Ok well i just picked up another rx7 from a kid down the street from me who let it sit around in the weather for about 2 years but with a nice quick look so far.
i live closest to atkins rotary and they gave me an estimate of 4900 for a rebuild and porting job.

but before i decied to send it in I'm going to make sure i rip it out and and pull it apart and get it all cleaned up and inspected enough of my own ability.

This motor has not only been worn out and not really running it just sat out in the heat and the cold waiting to be rebuilt the whole car needs new exhaust and well new inside upolstry along with a new shifter now I'm currently making 2k every 2 weeks for truck driving so I'm not to money concerned. also sorrry for wall of text I'm using my phone atm. and what should i also look for just incase before the engine can ever be put back in?

i hope your question was pointed toward this answer because i'm a bit unsure of exactly what you were asking. i don't know how much of it you will see as necessary or have time for, but this should give you an idea of a thorough job.

clean as much as possible and buy the little things that have a tendency to get overlooked. cleaning can be free for the most part, but keep in mind some this stuff costs money and it can add up ... QUICK!

- drain the tank
- clean the lines (run some solvent on a loop)
- change the fuel sock
- change ALL filters!
- get the injectors cleaned (make sure the O-rings are replaced, too)
- you might want to take a close look at the injector diffusers
- drain and clean the radiator
- clean overflow tank
- drain and clean the oil cooler
- consider what you want to do about the oil cooler lines
- engine and tranny mounts
- clean up the engine bay
- clean and re-tape the wires and looms

non-engine related:
you might want to do a thorough check of the brakes and clutch systems.

ok i just went over the car again and I tho9ught I would try to see if the car turned over and well it wants to but I think the engine is just seized up turns out the guy only had a coolant leak and he over heated it a couple of times

fried his spark plugs but other then that the engine just won't crank over cause right when it wants to you can hear the rotors move but can't make a full rotation because of no lubrication left in the engine.

What is a good trick on getting the rotors re-lubed and and holpully to make a few rotations to see if it actually cranks good?

a cracked iron could prevent the rotors from moving 360 degrees. So if it has been "overheated a couple times" I would be investigating that aspect.
honestly it sounds fried..rebuild time.

ok I will keep that in mind aswell but im gonna try some atf and see if its just locked up if that doesn't work I will make some time to get a rebuild into it and I did the math I think I will just rebuild and prt myself just will be alot cheaper and I won't have to really wait that long

plus i just found out how to do a decent street port myself not sure why places charge so much its kinda simple looking.

Edit just thought about it but where is a good site that has a decently priced rebuild kit and porting kit?

if it's having trouble turning with the starter, then it's safe to assume you can't turn it by hand and therefore, very safe to conclude SOMETHING is majorly wrong with it.

in my opinion, this is pretty much your cue to start looking for an engine or a core for rebuild. i'm all about saving parts, but an overheated engine is a major crap-shoot.

Hang on there buddy! ATF? No way!!!!! Please go and find some Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) and use that instead of the ATF. Pour it in through the intake and squirt some in through the spark plug openings then try turning the engine over by HAND. It may be extremely hard at first but here's where patience is needed. Let the MMO soak in overnight and repeat the next day. If the iron isn't cracked, you should get the rotor to turn freely after 2 or 3 days.
