General Parts Swap Q & A
Since I many more parts to change besides the driveshaft everyone can now use this for your own conversion/swap questions.
Mine is, will the plastic console/bezel part that is attached to my shifter boot out of a 1990 model work in my 1988?? The 90 is a coupe mine is a convertible. Neither are turbo and both are a 5 speed.

yes.the shifter surround will work.It may not fit perfectly though.
Most guys change the S4 Plastic stereo/center console surround to the S5 as it is rubber and more durable.They go with the shifter surround too,as it is also rubber.

S4 and S5 stereo and shifter surrounds interchange well. I have the rubberized S5 stereo surround and the original S4 shifter surround on my car. The slight difference is in the height of the shifter surround, but it's minimal.
