Fuel Relay 1988 turbo

I recently got an 88 rx7 convertible and i believe it has turbo. Unfortunately i can't get any power to the fuel pump and i was told it was a bad fuel relay. ive been researching and im pretty sure its called a fuel injection relay. Anyways i wanted to know if there was a way to by pass it or if i just have to get a new one.

thanks
ryan

the fuel pump relay/resistor is by the air box (passenger side) also their is one under the steering column in the cabin that tends to get overlooked wich is normally the cause. i belive their is a way to test it but you would have to look at the wiring schematic.

Make sure the 15 amp Engine fuse is good for starters as this fuse powers the Circuit Opening Relay located inder the dash and just to the right of the steeering wheel column. There are five wires in the relay which is Black and Yellow. Three wires on the top row and two on the bottom row. Top row far left lies a Black/White wire and it will have voltage w/key to start. The wire next to it, top row center position, is also B/W and will have voltage w/key to on. The Blue wire, top row far right, will have voltage w/key to start and w/key to on w/the engine running and not key to on but engine off. This is a start so see what you come up with, but the first thing to check is the Engine fuse. If the top row middle position B/W wire does not have voltage w/key to on then the likely cause is the 15 amp Engine fuse needs replacing.

That would be the Main Relay. It does not control voltage to the fuel pump.

If you are truly not getting any voltage to the fuel pump then why aren't you doing what was suggested in post #3? Hmm?

Find the relay and tell us what the color of the wires are on the top row of the relay plug. I'll bet they are from left to right a B/W, B/W, and a Blue wire. One of the B/W wires is in the left position the other B/W wire is in the center position and the Blue wire is in the right position. Top left wire has voltage w/key to start, center wire has voltage w/key to on, Blue wire has voltage w/key to start and also with the engine running. Below these three wires is a solid Black wire which is a ground wire. In using a multimeter you place the Red lead to the wire being measured and the Black lead to the Black ground wire.

if i rewire the fuel pump like that will it automatically bypass the resistor and relay? if i have a bad relay, wouldn't it continue not to work?
