Fuel Filters

Why do they clog frequently. We've cleaned the whole fuel system and injecters et al. Seems like once a year the filter needs replaced. Other than that, she's a gem and is running perfectly! She's 36!

fuel filters don't normally clog, it's a sign that the car sat for a long period of not being driven or got a bunch of junk in the tank somehow.

So you have a 1981 fuel-injected car...or a carbureted car? Not up on FB's, but was thinking they all had carbs that year.
Either way as you said it's 36 years old. A lot years for varnish other contaminants to collect. Fuel filters aren't expensive and IIRC they're not hard to change on that car. I'd imagine the fuel injectors might be a little more sensitive. Are the filters actually 'clogging'? If so, you might want to look into pulling the tank and have it cleaned/flushed. If not and the filter is just looking nasty, then once a year doesn't seem like too big of a deal and intervals may improve over time.
