ok where to start
i have an 85 gsl 13b bridgeport
with am headers and exhaust
it has a holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary which i know should be a 650 mechanical secondary
anyway when i purchased the car in feb, i was told i'd have to upgrade the fuel pump
he gave me an aeromotive 11203 along with the car when i purchased it
i installed it with aluminum fuel line to a holley fuel pressure reg
tuned it down to 6 psi and it had been running fine, just lean due to the lack of flow in the smaller carb
the other day it shut off at a light aroud the corner from my house
had enough fuel in the lines to get home but the pump was cutting out.
now, before i installed the pump, i was told i should be able to just run it off of the stock power wires and it should be fine.
so it has been running this way for a few months now untill the other day when this happened.
i decided to just rewire it and ran the recommended 10 gauge 30 amp wire from batt to fuse to 30-40a relay
grounded the relay out, ran fuse tapped wire to relay then wire from relay to pump, grounded the pump out next.
it was running fine for a few days until yesterday the pump just stopped.
the fuse between the batt and relay was blown
i replaced it and it blew immediately. all other fuses were fine and relay was still working but the fuse would blow whenever i turned the key
i then checked the pump and it was shot. i didnt have another am pump laying around so i reinstalled the stock pump i had.
i still had the stock line and wires hooked up so i just plugged it back up. she fired right up and idled until operating temp.
when i went to drive away she started to sputter out and died
now she doesnt idle and only stays running above 2500 rpm if im tapping the gas consistently
as soon as i release, she dies
When I did the rewire a few days ago and i went to check the relay, there was none.
Never been one the whole time ive had her. wtf is that about?
I'm stuck in my tracks and any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
