fuel cutting issue?

ok so im driving in my 88 gxl. it stutters like it needs fuel sometimes. also sometimes when i floor it, it will fall on its face and random rpms then go again. i changed the wires plugs and fuel filter and still having the same issue

It may be a spark issue. Test your leading and trailing coils per the FSM. Check for CEL codes too: http://www.johnr.com/cpucodes.html.

Check engine grounds too. Clean them up real nice..

Could be the fuel pump sock too...

Does it have a hard time starting when the engine is cold like it is flooded? If so it could be the thermal sensor located behind the thermostat housing.

instal a fuel pressure gauge and see what pressure your getting, could have air getting in the lines somewhere from old rubber line with a crack
