Well you would have to like mount the engine a different way since the tranny would have to be going to the front 2 wheels. Seems kinda like a pain, what year civic are we talking?

they have a front wheel drive rotary in a mazda 5.
its like a minivan and its a hybrid.
not sure when and if they are gonna start producing them but the same thoughts have crossed my mind as well.
i've seen civics converted to rwd with rotaries but thats about as close as i've seen.

searching google and this site brings up a lot of interesting subjects on the matter.

A couple of years ago I ran across a Russian rotary website. As usual, the Russians stole and made thier own knock off version to the 13B, then stuck it in an older civic sized chassis with fwd. Rod Millen built his own version of an AWD 2nd gen for the Pikes Peak run, quite successful. Iirc, the drivetrain components were, or were based off of an older Mazda 323, (GTX?).

There was one front drive rotary car produced by Mazda years ago, but I forget what it is. I want to say it was the Luce, but that's incorrect. It may have been a 929 in the mid eighties. Not a very popular car.

This is a very old link and there used to be a pic. The owner claims it was front wheel drive.

Lada makes a russian version of the rotary engine. Im guessing its gotta be like a newer KKM motor but they are FWD. Heres a link for anyone whos interested.

I don't know. He of course got flamed. Then got into an argument on why it would be a logical swap, then got into an argument about power/weight I think... then I stopped paying attention

Nope, not incorrect. R-130 Luce. The only application in which the 13A was used. Not sure of the exact year range, something like '71-73, and only in Japan.

There have been custom FWD rotaries done. I've seen a couple of Civics: there was a green EG hatch with an old-school 4-port 13B, and if I remember right the other was an EK with a 13BT. I know I've seen others, but I can't remember what they were.

I love it! But 800HP? Ha, I want in on the crack pipe he's smoking.

Looks like a setup capable of mid 400s based on the size of the turbo and the small hot side. The stock S4 manifold is a big cork in the exhaust. There are some pretty major flaws in that setup.
