Well, we finally figured out what was wrong with my 7! I think you guys might find this story a good one! So after I was having all my flooding and overheating issues that I could not possibly figure out, I finally took my fd a shop. I contacted Emphasis motor sports in Albuquerque, NM, and they hooked up a trailer and took me 380 miles one way to Canon City, Co, to pick up my car that had overheated and broke down. We brought it back to ABQ and they pulled the engine and sent it over to Brian to see what was up with it. Brian pulled apart my engine and guess what he found!!! The apex seals are good, the oil coolant seals were good, all the bearings and seals were good no scratching or anything messed up there... Except the "mild street port" that was done by a local rotary shop that used to be here in abq a few years back. Apparently they had barely touched most of the ports and just did a crap job. Except on the front intake port, they cut way to far and ended up cutting into the water jacket. Noticing that they did that, they welded the cast iron hole back up and put the engine back together. After all of the heat cycles in the engine, we are guessing the cast iron with a weld finally split and was leaking coolant into the engine, causing all of my overheats and all my problems. Anyways, now that we figured out what was wrong, Brian is rebuilding my engine with all new parts and doing a half bridge on it. He port and polished my throttle body and removed the secondary's out of it. Now over here at our end, Emphasis motor sports installed a 255 walboro fuel pump, 850 priamarys, 1200 secondarys, gasket ported just about everything, ported my waste gate, did the rich mans non sequential and heavily ported the turbos. The car already had an aftermarket FMIC, an aftermarket v mount radiator, apexi intake, bonsai 3'' downpipe, bonsai 3'' mid pipe, and the stock catback. a/c delete, abs delete, a few gauges, Greddy profec b boost controller, and finally the power FC w/commander. When Brian finishes the engine we are going to be tuning it to 15 psi. Soon to come a Big ol Single. i'll post pics of the hole here when I figure out how.

Porting into the water jacked on the secondary ports takes a special type of incompetance. Easy to do on the primaries though (I'm guilty of that).

Any idea how much an average rebuild would cost for a 12A?

 

It is completely variable depending on what parts are required. A basic gasket kit w/seals is $800. On top of that is a considerable amount of labor to disassemble, inspect and clean. Assembly is about 2 hours for the experienced. Figure $2000 as a ballpark in most cases if you don't need any hard parts (rotors, housings, etc.).
