Fortune Rx7 Build
I hate that I may have to leak a bit of my project in order to get where I want to be in this forum but here goes.
I have a Chevy ZR1 rolling chassis yes that is correct ZR1 with paddle shift, HUD, engine, PCM, etc!...the real deal
All I need is a non- rolling Chassis from an RX7 93-95 and no guts. Doors and windows as well as lights are a plus but you can see where I'm going with this of course...
Then comes the Veilside Body Kit and....
Anyways since I have to post here I do have a quick question in regards to the frame of an FD3 versus A ZR1.
Even though this may be a weird or stupid question to some, does anyone have a guess in percent wise how close the frames are related as far as structural support goes?

It is Actually the Z06 chassis not the ZR1

If you are going to take on an RX7 V8 conversion the first thing you must do is your homework. You have to figure out how much time, material, and most importantly Cost, is needed to build the car the RIGHT WAY...THE FIRST TIME
In my case I have a total of roughly 7500 (maybe even more) for the conversion parts and labor needed just to make an RX7 ready and capable of handling the LSX series of motor, this estimate doesn't include a big brakes kit for more stopping power, rims and tires, complete accessories (like the bigger fuel tank that comes with a stock Z06, electronic paddle shift, steering wheel assembly complete, etc), LSD, and most importantly the ENGINE & TRANNY
The engine and tranny alone will run about 10,000 plus if you go the NEW route or maybe between 3500-6000 if you go the Used route and get it serviced and up to your standards
And all this doesn't include the cost of the car...
So because I am working on a budget with this car like all my other projects I asked myself how could I get what I want for less and still be able to achieve or exceed my overall goal? So after doing some searching and asking all sorts of what seemed like dumb questions to people who at the time didn't understand what I was trying to do, I was finally given a break by the Car Gods and refered to sriiimotorsports.com and that's how the idea came about to purchase the Z06 rolling chassis with all the above mentioned items already ready to go and not to mention the LS7 and T56 already bolted in place and lets not forget the handling capabilities of the Z06 all for less than 12,000. You do the math
So essentially what I have is the Rolling chassis of a Z06 awaiting the shell of an RX7...Now there are two ways that I can do this project, the easiest being to just shorten the Z06 chassis to fit the Rx7 shell or the more unconventional way of making the Rx7 fit the unmodified Z06 chassis.
As for the the Fortune Kit it obviously will be fitted to an RX7 body with the bone structure and internals of the Corvette Z06 and for less. (Talk about doing a conversion...I live for this type of stuff)
One more thing I would like to add...For most people doing a V8 conversion on top of a Fortune Kit would run in the neighborhood of 45,000-60,000 easy...As of right now with the chassis I have, the cost of my kit, wheels and tires (I'm not going to keep the corvette wheels that come with the chassis), new brake calipers (that don't say corvette), body work and frame modification/Paint, and interior build
(pioneer deck and navigation, all JL AUDIO subs and speakers, and enclosures and material) I'm sitting at 34,300 bucks, give or take 500 bucks for hidden purposes. all in all after i Pull this off I will have a Nice car that was built for the track, and made for me without the cost others put into their builds but with the same care and effort put into mine to do the job right the first time...
I'm glad I didn't go into full detail...man this is a long post
