Figuring out prev owner's strange wiring

Just bought this 1995 RX7, which is the JDM spec. Iwas going through the car with a friend and we found out that it used to be an auto, but one of the previous owners half-assed it and it still has the auto trans harness in, which is probably the source of a few gremlins.

Gremlins...
1 - One of the fog light buttons is wired to the reverse signal. Traced the wire into the engine bay and it goes straight into the harness.

2 - When I press the brakes all of the dash lights brighten.

3 - Crazy, ghetto wiring in the center console

You can see where the PO wired into the fog light switch

Follow that wire into the engine bay and find it tapped into the main harness with some piece I have never seen

Crazy wiring harness I found that leads to nothing

Crazy wiring harness removed

Close up of part of it

Can anyone make ANY sense of this?? I would like to return my wiring to factory configuration. My goal with the car is to have it as close to stock as possible, with some tasteful improvements.

Sorry, the links didn't work. I think that crazy ghetto wiring was part of the auto trans wiring in the center console. Could you guys confirm this?

The plug it was going into. Does anyone know what this lead to? Im guessing Auto Trans stuff
