Fd3s transmission problem
Hi guys, so I ran into a problem earlier today I took the car for a little drive after work maybe 30 minutes, when I was at a traffic light two minutes away from my home my car had gotten stuck in second gear and wouldn't come out of gear. I luckily managed to get it home slowly on second and with my hazards on. Now three hours later I came to check on the car and shifter engages in all gears I even started it up and drove it.. I'm not sure what's going on. Could it be the end of the transmissions life ? Or something else ?

Off-hand I've never heard of your problem. And I'm no transmission expert. But from your description it sounds like a linkage issue that's aggravated to the point of binding when it heats up from driving.
Get a copy of the Factory Service Manual, you can download a copy free in the 3rd Gen. section FAQ sticky. Change out the gear oil in the transmission but pay special attention to the shifter reservoir That's accessed under your center console. The ball and lower bushing should be greased and sitting in a gear oil bath. The OEM plastic/nylon lower shifter bushing has been known to break, I guess it could be fouling something too.
