FD3S oil pan.
FD3S oil pan.
Question; I've gone off assumptions thus far and can't seem to find anything in the USDM Tech documents. Does anyone know off hand what the electrical connector in the oil pan is for? I assume a oil level sensor or something. I only ask because I found a broken wire going to this plug while overlooking the car. Thanks in advance.
It's on page D-11, but your right it's the level sensor.

If you have to take the sensor out for any reason, it's an easy job. Might make splicing/soldering a lot easier. You'll just need to replace the 'O' ring. Mazda Oil Level Sensor, Sender O-Rings & Gaskets They're always pretty flattened with time and heat.
Thanks for the reassurance. Ended up splicing the wire easily enough, don't notice a difference at all on my gauge cluster or my performance or.... anything. what does this send signals to?

I want to say the warning light in the oil pressure gauge. I've never seen it lit up or anything. Even if you drain the oil and put the power on, nothing happens. I deleted mine because I couldn't find a reason to keep it.
Ref the sensor's function I didn't see much in the FSM but did find this...
There is a buzzer in the CPU that buzzes for the redline warning, the coolant warning, and the oil level warning. It's not super loud, though.
If the wire to the level sensor isn't connected, the light on the oil pressure gauge should light up and the buzzer should sound.
