SC FD - un-shaving doors

Hello,

Previous owner shaved his door handles. Good for him, but I would like to be able to open my doors without fumbling for a remote. Problem is, I've only seen the "shaved" set-up, and I'm not sure what I need to get/do to put it back to stock.

Here's what I'm working with:

FD - un-shaving doors-ucgppes.jpg

FD - un-shaving doors-ymf53as.jpg

FD - un-shaving doors-0lp3tev.jpg''

Best illustration I've found:

Has anyone done this, or have pictures/illustrations that make it clear what needs to be done? Obviously I need new door handles, but besides that, I'm not sure.

Probably just get used latches for both inside and outside doors. I've never had to mess with mine much over the years but I gotta think once you have the un-molested parts in your hand, replacement will be pretty intuitive. Hopefully you'll be able to get all the parts from a single car and with lock cylinders that take a single key....including the ignition.
I'm not certain of the restrictions for new members, but there are 'part-out' threads posted up occasionally in the "Parts for Sale" section. Seems like that would be your best bet.

On a side note, that's one of the more silly mods I've seen. Good luck.

It sure is a lot of work for something that makes the car less functional...

I was trying to avoid getting all 3 new mechanisms if I can avoid it (besides the door handles, of course), as only the outside door handles seem permanently modified. If I can just get the whole set in one part out, though, that would be pretty easy.

I'm in greenville SC, when the time comes, if you want to have a reference car to look at while you put yours together

Only if you don't mind taking your doors apart!
