(FD) so, i made a doohandle..

so, the driver's exterior door handle was broke, and they are $255 new, for an oem plastic one, $150 for an aftermarket aluminum one.. and you'll never find one used, so last night, i decided to just make a new one.. i'm pretty happy with how it came out. the tools i used was just a mig welder, plasma cutter, grinder/cutoff wheel, and a hammer/dolley...

Looks good! I would love to learn welding. Anyone serious in the car hobby that has the time should do it. Gives you all kinds of new possibilities.

im impressed. i didnt expect the finished product to be so clean. i was expecting a shoe lace with a stick tied to it. probably because thats what i would be able to engineer.

yeah, i was pretty happy. i'm sure i could get it 100% perfect. it's very close as it is.. i was just tired, and wanted to go home. here's a better pic of the handle itself.

Awesome!

Wow that's cool! The drivers handle on my FD is broke as well, went the aftermarket aluminum handle path. Ridiculous how much the OEMs are.. See, now you know why they ask $150 for a pair Perfect your method and start cranking them out! Maybe make some bucks from your metalworks.
