FD RX-7 Paintless Dent Repair

Does anyone have experience with paintless dent or ding repair on their FD 93-95 RX-7?

Front fenders dont seem to be an issue for PDR but how about the doors and quarter panels?

Are the doors dual panel/double layered? The quarter panels seem to be dual layered with outside skin and inside.

Have any of you successfully been able to PDR on doors or quarter panels without drilling holes for access?

Doors are single other than the side impact bar. And afaik, other than a wheel well so are the quarter panels. Nothing inherently difficult in the FD for an experienced PDR guy. In fact it might be easier than some of the newer cars. Personally though, with all the fragile clips, plastic etc, I'd probably remove the door panels myself.

I've had the PDR guy at our dealership do a few dings here and there on my FD. His background is mainly working at a European shop and doing high end Audi, Merc, Ferrari, Porsche etc. He is the only PDR person I would ever let touch my cars. You need to find someone who is willing to really put the time into it and not treat it like a quickie job. If the rear quarters are dual layered, a competent guy should be able to glue pull most minor dings/dents. As long as your paint is original/good quality there shouldn't be any chance of yanking off a nickel sized circle of paint. Also if they work into the doors, make sure they don't cut the adhesive between the reinforcement bar and the outer skin. If they do you will get the "hollow tin can" sound when you shut the door.

Here you can see a nasty one on the lower curve of my RF fender he fixed for me. For this one I brought the bare fender to work and he fixed it on a body stand. After some careful touch up it is barely noticeable.

Thanks for the informative replies. I'll have to do some research to find a qualified PDR guy in the area. I've never seen the glue pull method before which seems like the perfect solution for double panels.

Andre, nice Kinesis wheels!

do you have a Mercedes or Porsche dealer in your area? If so, ask who they use. I worked at a Benz dealer, and while you think they use some "really expensive guy" they don't, but they use the experience ones. The guy that did our lot did "side work" at $100 a panel on our MINT 67 SS chevy camaro. and that's $40,000 car.
