ON FD interior questions

I've looked through the FAQs and searched through some of the subforums

so please forgive me if this has been covered already

but I'm having some interior problems with my FD (it's a 1992 jdm model)

I've owned the car for just a few short months and I love it a lot

but I'm starting to learn that the FD isn't exactly the pinnacle of interior quality, haha

my first problem is with the door lock

the lock doesn't like to stay in the unlocked position.

when unlocking the door, it seems like the key does not push hard enough on the mechanism to keep it in the unlocked position

if i push further on the interior door lock by hand, it will help the situation, but not always

seems like it always tends to come down on its own, after some time

what ends up happening is the door will lock itself, so that I basically have to take the key with me (or leave the window down) any time I get out

I'll do some more searching to see if anyone else has had this issue

My other question relates to the door panel itself:

Is it common for the mirror control to be loose/want to pop out?

To be honest I haven't looked at this too closely but just wanted to know if there was an existing quick fix out there

Sorry for the noob questions

Yes i have had the same problem.

It is to do with the length of the rod that connects from door lock assembly to key barrel in the handle.
It is likely that somehow it has been bent slightly out of shape.
To correct it could be as easly as just taking the outer door handle out and giving the rod a gentle tweek until it looks correct, or you may have to pull the whole lot of and check it out properly.
My drivers door lock keep jamming up every few months which resulted in 2 broken door handles until i managed to work out that it was the locking rod not disengaging properly.
Also its a good idea to use grease on the mechanisims on the outer door handle while you have it off ( makes it work so much smoother )

P.S yes i the mirror control switches dont clip in very tighly. Check the wiring loom is not twisted behind the door panel because if so it can put pressure it that area causing it to keep poping out
