FC suspension

Hello my rear struts are done for in my 88 vert. ive been looking around for struts and springs for a while now. and i was thinking of going with the Tokico non adjustable struts and then the racing beat springs from mazdatrixs but then i saw on tirerack the KYB AGx adjustable ones are on sale for not much more then the Tokico. so should i just go for the KYB?

the KYB adjustables are a better unit than anything tokico makes.

in my personal opinion you should get a set of entry level coilovers and never look back. ksport, stance, etc.

Depends on how you want to go about doing your suspension, there's more to suspension than just buying a coilover and praising the handling. Many racers will have coilovers custom made for their specs. The same can be applied on the street.

Here's a thread that handles the finer points:

Also check ebay, there are many power sellers for shocks.

Thanks alot guys that was basically my question what would be the best way to go for suspension that would be good for the street but still handle nice. i was thinking about coilovers but for the price i could get them i could get the kybs some nice springs, bushings and maybe new swaybars. so idk but that sounds like the better way to go for me

i love my tokicos and have been around 7's for over 20 years...

i have seen far more problems with KYB...

i not saying that KYB quality sucks now, but it used to...

ultimately, suspension is an owner's decision...

i will let you know that www.shox.com is where i have found some good deals over the last few years...

and no, i am not affiliated with the above website...lol

Do you have any experience with KSport?

I've had two sets, on two different cars, and both sets of front pillow ball mounts were trashed within two weeks. On top of that, they did clunk really bad while turning; from the springs turning on the perches. KSport techs said there is an update kit they offer to those with problems, only after they call and complain, and they said they've never had pillow ball mounts 'go bad'. I had to wait for two weeks to get the recall kits (both cars made the noises), and ended up replacing the pillow ball mounts on both cars after the second set of mounts I had to wait on started clunking after about two weeks.

Stay away from KSport. For a small amount of money more you can get some Megans that are quite nice... and for about $800 more than those you can get some FLTA-2s, and curse the day you thought about KSports.

OP, I've found the OEM replacement, KYB GR2s with a lowering spring, to be quite nice on other cars I've used as Daily Drivers. If you drive the car daily you'll regret a coil-over setup.
