FC shifter problem...

i have a 88 non turbo FC 5 speed, the shifter is really rough and hard to shift, i just replaced all the bushings but it didnt help. for example when you shift a normal 5 speed car every time you try to engage a gear its a smooth click, but mine i have to really push the level in gear, and the shifter doesnt have that bouncy feeling to it if you know what i mean, like its without a spring...i also ordered a shifter spring but i have no idea where it goes... thanks for any advice.

The shifter spring will take you a looooooong time to put it in. Or you need to take the trans out. Sit on it till you have to replace the trans.

What you should do is check the fluid level in your car. It may also be time for a fluid change. Some people prefer synthetic fluid like Redline or Neo Synthetic or Amsoil. Others stick with whatever your parts store has.

The spring is much more likely than every synchro being in horrible shape. That's just not going to happen.
