Okay I've got a strange issue with my car.... When I turn the car off all dash and warning lights are off. When I open the door to get out the seatbelt warning light comes on dimly and will not turn off until the car is re started. I just noticed this in the past little while and am unsure what could be causing it. I tried searching but couldn't seem to see anyone having the same issue

 

There's a single wire running to the seat belt buckle to sense whether the belt is buckled or not. The wire is Green/Black. When this wire has a ground on it the warning light would turn on. Now the warning lights are powered by the Meter fuse w/key to on so none of these lights should be receiving voltage w/the key to off under normal circumstances. What happens if you buckle the seat belt after it comes on dimly? Does it still stay the same, light up brighter or something else?

 

Stays the exact same in brightness this is why I am so puzzled by it because it comes on with the ignition off and only when I open the door. Then stays on after I open the door initially to get out of the car....

 

It's possible the unit is damaged internally and cannot be fixed. Or maybe resoldering the pins (done routinely due to cold solder connections) on the rear could fix it or making sure the ground connection is a solid one. You could also use the advanced search feature and see what others w/the very same problem did if anything to fix the problem (I remember others having a similar problem).

 

Still haven't been able to figure out the sseatbelt thing but I have something else now. I was changing the alternator out for a 130 amp unit and in plugged the one wire coolant sensor while doing so. I was lead to believe that that sensor is for the temp gauge but I forgot to plug it in afterwards and drove away the gauge still went up like normal..... And when I stopped I remembered I had forgot it unplugged and plugged it in. So I'm assuming there is a wiring issue there or am I wrong about the function of this sensor?

 

And the wire color is?

 

Green with a black stripe and some red marks about an inch apart running along it.

 

 

If that's at the thermostat housing neck then it's for the auxiliary electric radiator fan. The sensor which feeds the temperature gauge is located on the driver's side of the engine and the wire is Y/W.
