Fc rx7 158k

Hello all! well i am the new owner of a 1988 rx7 convertible! i picked it up last week and it is the first rotary car ive owned i paid very very little for the car because it needs a fair amount of work, its drivable and runs awesome even though it has 158,xxx miles The First thing i did after a very thorough cleaning, was dig into the shifter to fix the slop and discovered there were no bushings... i have parts on order from mazdatrix, the car needs alot of love and my question is what do i need to do to "freshen" up my car mechanically, i intend to do some power adder mods eventually but i dont have the $$$ for a full rebuild, nor do i think it really needs it, im not a mechanic im 19 and am a diehard car enthusiast and very hands on guy and know enough to be dangerous, any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

aside from telling you to give it a full tuneup and go through the brakes and suspension with a fine-toothed comb, replacing and/or upgrading as needed, there is not much anyone can tell you until you say what the car's list of issues are.

Thank for the reply there are a few things I need to address like I'm going to be doing new fenders, a new convertible top, rust repair to floors etc. I'll probably have questions with certain things but that bridge will be crossed when necessary
