fc na transmission ez question

on my 86 i redid the clutch over a year ago and when i put it all abck to gether i cant remember if they was three rubber mounts. i have 2 on the sides but in the middle of the bottom of the tranny theres just a bolt with what looks like a metal pad to hold up a rubber mount. i have no rubber mount there and it has a space with a inch or so to fit one. now can this be the reason why my car feels a loose, almost like it could fall apart and any minute? and maybe the power isnt being converted without having to clunk my tranny a little bit. at any rate should i have one or not(this is not a DD just a summer car).. thanks

The large stud in the middle passes through a bushing in the crossmember. If it is not a snug fit, the bushing is blown, and you need to replace the crossmember. The added stress has probably ripped up the rubber y-blocks too, so I'd replace them at the same time. http://www.mazdatrix.com/g3.htm

well honestly my drive shaft has been getting losse latley and when i went under neath the y braces were lose from installing the tranny so i snugged them up they went in a few more turns so they are snug and they didnt look very bad at all like no tears or rips or and cracks. but im thinking since is only been a tops of 1500 miles since i did my clutch that i just forgot the rubber part of the crossmember or since it lookd to be a junk yard tranny(it says fc rx7 in marker on the side of the tranny) that maybe it never had one. is there a specific place to get said crossmember rubber piece?

You can't replace the bushing in the crossmember. You have to buy the entire thing.

Yes, I swapped my own car. That's why I know what I'm talking about when it comes to swaps. Hands on.

i didnt think any other way. u are one of the most well for me respected mods here.. and does the whole crossmember consist of just the bottom barb that holds the mount? and are they expensive? and should i just get a stock one or is they an aftermarket one that will be better? ..... asked since i wanna do a swap but i am waiting for all the right info to come my way.. thanks RR

yea i found a bracket mount crossmember thing for 105 dollars. now is this a little steep? i mean i can almost buy a used tranny for that. and if not is there anyone who sells cheaper ones? used or not isnt as issue. i just want my power train to be nice a solid.

uh sorry for all this but is my bolt upside down... i was comparing mine to new ones and the rubber is one the upper area not the bottom. and seeing in my pic there round grooves above the bolt and it appears to me anyways that it may need flip around(the washer piece itself nothing else) and then it would push up on the tranny better that way? thanks

The plastic washer piece looks a little different from what I've seen before, but it would make more sense to flip it. Of course if the bushing in the center of the crossmember is not tight around the stud, it's blown and there's nothing you can do to save it. You can put a jack under the transmission, then unbolt the crossmember to check it out. 2 bolts per side & the nut in the middle, then it'll drop down.

Mazdatrix lists an '86 manual NA transmission crossmember for $92. I linked to it above.

yea i actually can remove it without the jack oddly... it doesnt seem to be doing anything but keeping it from falling out completly.... imma try flipping the washer and see if it snug up better and when money is more plenty i will get a whole new one. thank RR for your time
