FC Frame Tinworm Repair Likelihood
I have an '87 Turbo II that has succumbed to tinworm in the driver's side frame rail under the battery box. The sway bar mount that attaches to this section is starting to deflect.
I was wondering if anyone has had experience with a body shop welding in a replacement/donor frame rail? I know that this will be difficult to do correctly and preserve the requisite frame geometries and strengths. That said, I work with fabricators that could pull this level of complexity off. I therefore am wondering if I could reasonably expect a body shop to do this.
Any input is appreciated.

So I just talked to a guy that does modified circle track crap. While I usually equate circle track with evil as I road race, it seems this guy provided hope. If the battery has leaked enough sulfuric acid (common?) to eat the steel in the driver's side frame, it can be repaired by a conscious human.
