I noticed that 1st gens have some bad electrical systems. Is there a good way to eliminate some of the electrical load on the engine? Will an A/C delete give me more power? How much power does running headlights take away?

I also have a problem with my tail lights flickering as I go down the road. Anyone know what that could be? Bad wiring maybe?

welcome.

check your grounds. also, check your alternator and battery.

i don't know if i'd go so far as to call the Gen I electrical systems bad. you have to realize that they are (a) old, and (b) usually somewhat molested and uncared for in the average car you buy these days.

Alright. Thanks for the advice. Is there any way to get my car to start better? I've heard of electrical mods like HKS twin power. How do those work?

replace terminals, clean grounds, buy a better battery, higher amp alternator.

they are pretty dumpy. i turn on my radio my voltage drops, i turn on my lights it drops even more, god forbid i put on my blinker and brake at the same time, and the car nearly stalls. lol turns out my new zinc posts were corroding from this recent cold spell.

even after cleaning the car ran a bit better, and the idle doesnt drop now, but still the voltage drops all to hell. there not designed very well.
