I need a left rear drum brake backing plate for an 82 FB. I can't seem to find one anywhere. Mine is bent. Has anyone had any experience bending one back in shape? It is not badly bent, but I'd like to replace it. Still searching recycling yards. Just about 4 months ago a recycler close to my house had two FBs. Both gone now. If someone knows what other Mazda models used the same plate that might help. Thanks for any insight.

 

Ive got one from an 85, I'm not sure if its the same from the small bearing to big bearing rearend, I'm in surprise, you can have it if you want to come get it.

 

i say roll with it and ditch the drums. lol get the re-speed bracket, and buy some GSL rotors and calipers. and call it a day. Brake Conversion Kits : 1979-1983, Basic Drum to Disk Conversion Kit.

No time to mess with it now. Don't have the parts lined up. Wish I did, but the timing isn't good. As it is, I already have the big 626 brakes on the front, so it WILL stop. For now, I'll take up my neighbor in Surprise on his offer.
