TX Exhaust system glowing red-hot after replacing cat. converter

Hi, I have a 1991 Non-turbo convertible, 50 K. Car had been sitting for two years, ran perfectly up until last week. After completely restoring interior and exterior, went and put about 1/'4 tank of gas in it. drove home fine. next day went to start it- Catalytic converter shot (red hot) . Removed and replaced with a new Eastern CC (front and center). Now, it will start but cuts off after 5 mins..... the entire exhaust from the manifold down pipe to the mufflers -glowing red-hot?? Huge afterburn problem for sure. I have no idea???

Thanks, PJ

The new cat has to be severely restricting exhaust flow. Get it out, hollow out your old cat, and run the car with basically a straight pipe until you can figure out what the deal is with the replacement.

Hi, did that, no help! pretty sure that a seal blew through manifold...did compression test and no compression on rear rotor. Now, just looking for a replacement engine. Thanks, PJ
