excessive smoke , cold start

Good morning! my 87 standard non turbo fires right up then sits at 3k for 20-30 sec. A whiteish smoke comes bellowing out, depending on the breeze i have to hold my breath
and jump out. Once it warms up it drives good with no smoke. Any sugestions welcome, Thanks yall

You're seeing the accelerated warm up mode in action. You can disable this startup procedure by having the car in 1st gear and clutch pedal in when you start the car. It will prevent the 3k rev. The whitish smoke very well could be coolant burning off or just accessive condensation in the combustion chamber. There are various tests to see if it is in fact coolant in the camber. Good luck!

Putting it into first works, thanks for the tip. I felt like the motor ws getting too stressed out.
