electrical problems with my 86 rx7 na please help!! im stuck and low on funds

I was driving one day and my kill switch was rattling loose so i grabbed it and accidentally hit it and turned it right back on but the car died still and never started up again and i had to tow it home. i took the whole kill switch out and re-connected the original wires. i fixed a blown fuse and tried it again and it didnt start and now my batteries dead and my charger isnt working. Im mainly wondering if i need a new battery or just a charge or if thats even the problem. the cars been sitting for 2 and half months. thanks to anybody who reads and helps

You won't be able to try anything until you charge the battery.

It's likely the Engine fuse, which powers various items including the Circuit Opening relay which is the relay that the fuel cut switch would be routed to.

Then after you check the fuses you need 2 things..

Gas and spark.

Check your primary coil. for spark.

After i do this and say its ready to start, will it need a prime of some sort or should it fire right up after 3 months of sitting?

Pull one of the plug wires off of the leading coil and place it oh so close to the coil bore but leave a fraction of an inch between the coil bore and the plug wire and then turn the car over and you should see some spark. Also make sure both of the EGI fuses in the engine fuse box are good as well as previously mentioned and the engine fuse also needs to be in working order.

And you might want to add something to the gas to revive it.

I had a similar issue with my 86 n/a and it ended up being the two thick wires under the steering column that connected to the ignition switch. One was melted and shorting out. I had power to everything else but was unable to start the car.

I think you can jump the car started and then .. if im right ... someone can interject here.. rx7 might not work like this..
But while the car is started take the negative terminal off.. if the car keeps running then your alternator is working.. if not then maybe it is your alternator not charging the battery right..
But that could be a connection with the alternator..

So then you would check your alternator connections..

you can take your battery to auto zone and have it checked if you want to take it out..

It is not a good "idear" to remove the battery cable while the car is running. The alternator has a Black cable bolted to it and this is the output wire. While the car is idling you take a voltage reading from this cable. Voltage should be in the 14 to 14.4 volt range.
