eccentric shaft pulley, which way is up?

The pulley was off when I got the motor and I want to put it back on without messing anything up. Is there a way to figure out how to put it on and have everything line up so the timing isnt off? Engine is n/a 13b.

Thanks.

welcome to the board.

you can use the flywheel to find TDC and then install the pulley with the timing mark aligned with the indicator needle.

Is there a TDC mark on the flywheel? Or do I need to look through the spark plug holes and do it that way?

not a TDC mark on it per se, but you can use the flywheel.

If the front pulley has been off theres a good chance the torrington bearings have fallen out of the correct spot.remove the timing cover and check both of them.If they have fallen out they will quickly destroy your engine if not fixed.

dude makes a good point on the torrington bearings.

NOW,I have heard of doing Timing this way.
When the HUB goes back on the shaft, the Keyway will face 90 degrees LEFT..towards the Exhaust ports.
Put the Pulley back on,and since it only goes on ONE WAY to the hub( those 4 bolt holes on the pulley are ot 100% square, they are offset so you do not screw up the timing) you should get your timing marks correct that way.
The pulley does not tell you ZERO TDC though.(it is stock marks.)
