Question easy to maintain?

i've always liked RX-7's but im always hearing horror stories from my friend about the apex seals going out, and having to spend a grip just to buy and replace them.

i really want to have this car as a D.D./ Track car so i want to mod it. what are some major things i should look for when i go shopping and how hard is it to maintain one before and after modding?

Thanks Guys!

If you know what you're doing, it's easy. The "horror stories" you mentioned come from people that mistreat or improperly modify a car, then wonder why the engine blew. Maintaining a rotary is not all that different from any other engine, but it's far less forgiving when it comes to ignorant owners. If you're looking to buy an RX7, spend some time here reading up on what you should know. It will make your life much easier.

Maintenance is easy, just like any other car.

If you go turbo and push your car a lot it will blow up though... its kinda unavoidable.

Generation???

What generation of the RX-7 are you looking at? If the 3rd Gen, spend lots of time here...

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/

And if you do decide to purchase one, please utilize the "search" function and I am confident you will find all the info you need (after all this car is NOT new). Posting a question that has been asked a million times will get you flamed pretty quickly.

Good luck

You can really beat on the first and second gen RX-7s when they are stock and not turbo. Ive owned a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and REPU lol. beat the snot out of the three non turbo. aside from the infamous, pour oil in the spark plug hole to start the car trick, they are amazing.

The third gen reliability goes like this (best to worst)
1single turbo, water/meth injection, straight exhaust. upgraded computer (ecu) tuned
2 stock
3 poorly modded. like pushing the stock turbos too hard with tons of badly planned mods.

Ive got experience with the second and third configurations. lol

Don't forget:
A1. Reliability upgrades (AST, DP, Radiator, etc.) done, otherwise stock and maintained religiously.
