Dome/Map lights

Hey guys, so I've been trying to figure out why my dome/map lights don't work on my 87 turboII.

When I open my doors, the little lights in the door come on and work fine. But neither of the map lights come on and the dome light doesn't function either. I have a spare assembly also, which doesn't seem to work either. Both seem slightly different, I'm assuming s4/s5.

Now, both of the main plugs on each assembly go in fine, but one has a black wire with a bullet type connector I can't seem to find a place for, and the other assembly has two black wires that join into a single connector. But I have no spot to plug in either of these. I pulled out the interior harness as far as possible, and I did find a few connectors but nothing seems right. There was a female and male bullet connector tucked away, as well as a 4 prong connector. These i don't see a use for either. If I connect the female and male one, the 7.5a interior fuse shorts out. Also, if I plug the male black wire bullet into the female bullet, nothing happens. Figured I'd try.

Also, all bulbs seem fine. One of the assemblies is missing a prong on the dome light part but either way the map lights aren't functioning.

Any ideas?

The Blue/Red wire is the power wire powered by the room fuse and powers both the map lights and interior light which has three positions (constant on, constant off and on/off depending on whether the door is open or closed). The Blue/White wire comes from the door switch to tell the interior light that the door is open or closed. The two individual map lights have two connections. One is for power (uses voltage supplied by the B/R wire) and the other is a ground. When the interior light is set to the constant on position it ends up using the same ground as the map lights use.

/\ good info. i too had issues with mine, but only ended up being power wire was not connected to door sensor.
