Decision to make...

Decision to make...
So... a few weeks ago I went to start my 91 vert to go to work. And this big cloud of white smoke started spewing from my exhaust. I've done my research and have come to the conclusion that I have blown a coolant seal. I've added the aluminum stop leak for a temporary fix (read a post on here that it was ok for a lil while)...
Now, here's my question. Rebuild my N/A or buy a JDM setup off ebay (engine, harness, ecu, and transmission) supposedly their all tested and come with a warranty. A relatively short one, but hey its something... just wanting some honest opinion's. I've never taken one of these apart, but I have the service manual and another vehicle I can use if I must.

In general, you should expect to rebuild a JDM engine. They may be fine without a rebuild, but you never really know what you are getting. Coolant/oil seals may be dried out from sitting, engine may have rust/water in it from sitting outside, apex seals/springs may be worn, etc.
Depending on the miles on your engine, the rebuild may be simple if it is just a coolant seal problem. You may find other issues, but you won't know until you open it up.
In general, I believe it is always better to rebuild (whether it be what you have now or a JDM engine). If you rebuild, you know exactly what the condition is of everything inside. You can also decide on what parts to replace depending on condition and how long you want the rebuild to last.

The JDM engine would be a Turbo engine anyways(no N/A Jdm engines),so if you are looking to go that route you should just PM a guy by the name of Japan2LA..
He is a reputable engine dealer that a lot of members buy off of with confidence.Ebay engines are a Crapshoot...minus the Shoot!
