a crap load of questions.
hey, my name is matt, and this the first time im asking questions about my 88 fc n/a a/t. a few months ago i bought it running like crap and smoking and have put about 200 dollars into simple tune up and undoing all the stupidity of the previous owner. i have changed spark plugs, cleaned fuel rail, injectors, throttle body, sprayed for leaks(found none), seafoam in crank case and in fuel tank, new air filter, lucus tranny stop leak and bad shift into tranny case, 20/50 royal purple oil change(stopped smoke), he put 2 quarts of 10w30 full synthetic in it), recremped starter ground cable and thermostat, ect...
1. when i turn key, i get responce but sometimes i have to turn it off and trun the key again before it will turn over and start. its like its haveing a hard time getting a ground connection?
2. once started, and after warm up system finishes, the idle will drop to 1000 and fluctuates up to 2000rpms about every sec or so, maybe TPS is bad? tried adjusting screw, but would either idle too high or die.
3. bouncing idle will stop when i put it into gear(drive, reverse), but tranny hesitates and idle will drop real low, sometimes killing it, but then shifts into gear and idle stays right at 900rpms while stopped.
4. lack of power on acceleration.
5. while driving on highway, at random time, it will sound and feel like fuel is cut to motor(starts to slow down, sounds like misfire or something), but it only will last for a breif sec, then regain normality
6. opon deceleration, tranny seems to have trouble finding a gear to go into(as i slow down, really slow for whatever gear its in, it will idle just until it will cut off, then shifts down) and normality resums.
might be a combination of engine issues and tranny going bad, not sure. please help if you can. thank you
