Converting to crank windows?
Converting to crank windows?
Hi everyone, '84 GSL owner here.
I've been having a bunch of problems with my power windows, including them consistently falling off the regulators in the door, weak motors, and just losing alignment.
I was thinking of converting them back to crank windows for better long-term reliability. I was wondering if anybody had done this before, and if you might have some advice for doing this? I'm aware I'll have to get basically the entire window assembly from another car, and drill and cut some new holes for the crank.
Otherwise, is there a more permanent solution to the issues I've been facing that is more cost-effective?

You might want to look for some used parts to get them in shape. I just found a pretty obscure part for my 94 FD. Try Fritz Flynn on this site. My mechanic recommended him and he was easy to deal with. Good price.
