Clutch M.C. Issues?
Hi guys,
I've got a 1990 gxl, and having problems with the clutch pedal sticking down to the floor. Hayne's diagnoses this as a binding release bearing, but I don't think that's the case.
Here's the thing though, this only happens when I sit on the clutch for extended periods of time, and springs right back if i stick my foot under it and try to "pull" it back up with my toe.
Another issue that takes me away from that is the fact that when the clutch pedal sticks to the floor, the clutch itself slowly starts to engage (like if you were to put the clutch in, put it in first, foot off brake, keep clutch down, after about 15-20 seconds the car would begin to move forward, as if the clutch were being let out).
Yet another fact that leads me not to believe hayne's is the fact that the car has a brand new release bearing (when i swapped in the new motor, new clutch, pilot bearing, and release bearing all went in with plenty of lube in the right places).
The only theory I have right now is an internal leak in the master cylinder that's allowing fluid to pass by the piston and back into the resivior, and thereby slowly letting pressure drop in the line/slave cylinder. Anyone else had this happen or have advice or thoughts on my theory? And if this so happens to be the case, what should I do to remedy this? Just get a new clutch M.C.? Could Air in the clutch fluid cause this?

Your hydraulics are going.
The best viable solution is replace the master, slave and flex hose with new components.
Reason: replace say only the slave, then the master will not be far behind to fail..why?:better pressure.
the whole system is like 150 bucks.

I'm with this guy. This is most definitely going to be a failed clutch slave cylinder, and like stated above...Replace both the clutch slave and master at the same time. Bleed system properly and check for leaks.
