Cluster switches

Are the cluster switches different from 88 convertible RX-7 than from the hatch model?

There are several versions of the right side cluster switch that vary based on model. I think 'Verts have their own. The left side switches are basically the same for all cars in the series.

88 and 89 verts use a different wiper switch than any other models as the top retraction/opening switch is located in the wiper switch assembly.

The headlight switches are the same though.

Would it still work? Or would it cause problems when retracting the top?

If you are talking about using a non 88-89 convertible wiper switch in a 88-89 convertible, you would not be able to retract the top unless it was a 88-89 convertible wiper switch.
