CF layup

Hey guys. I'm looking for some info on the process of laying up CF. I've tried a few times and have failed each time with the weave getting distorted. Here are my steps.

Materials:

2-2 Twill CF
Marine Grade Epoxy by TAP plastics
4-1 Hardener by TAP plastics (the fastest curing one)
Mold Release agent

Steps:

1. Wax the mold with car wax and buff it a few times.
2. Spray mold release agent and let it dry.
3. Mix resin and coat mold surface and let it dry to tacky (Here I have problems because the mold release agent works too well i'm assuming. The resin clumps together like water on glass, and won't coat the surface entirely. If i were to coat it so it would be one clump, the resin would be about 1/2cm thick, and i'm not sure if that's right cause that's a lot of resin IMO)

And that's as far as I've gotten, because the twill weave gets messed up and I give up and throw everything away.

My main question is, am I suppose to make the first coat of resin on the mold that thick and let it dry to tacky before i put the first layer of CF? I've watched numerous videos and read that you should do that, but each version i've watched and read, they weren't using marine grade.

Please help me out, I'll try and post pics of my mold as well. Thanks!

It might be best to find a forum geared specifically towards composites.

For example: http://carbonfiberaddicts.com/forum.php

Good point, was hoping to see if anyone did any custom stuff in CF. Also, i don't think that's an actual carbon fiber forum i've checked that out before. I think i've found my solution though =]
