CB radio into 3rd Gen FD
It's actually really simple. Sell the FD. Buy a Freightliner FLC 120 64. Drink nothing but road food. Enjoy your new suntanned left arm. Profit?

Honestly, I have never had this idea and there is really no need/reason I can think of. You would need to make up a large antenna mount so you can get adequate range and the wiring is not too difficult. Or, you can invest in this fancy device called a "cell phone". You can talk to people all around the world with it and even browse the web to find said road food stops.
In Japan some of the drifters and street racers have cars packed with police band scanners and CB radios to help organize their group and keep things going smoothly.
Problem is you have to convince your friends to get a CB too and even harder to stick to an organized plan/task.
But if you already shutting down roads for your own use and such, it would be more convenient and probably less monitored by enforcement than using your phone.

the only useful thing I see a CB for anymore is if your camping and pulling a trailer behind you, it can come in handy, cause if your in the right area, the truckers will tell you where the smokeys are, and if you want good eats, you can ask them
years ago we were on our way to tennessee for rod run and were in ohio, and we were getting hungry, we didn't want fast food, so we flipped on the CB to channel 19, and asked where there was some good eats the way we were headed
Needless to say, we were told to goto the T/A station at exit 111, we've gone there many times since, REALLY good food for a truck stop
So in someways, CBs are handy

you all make great points.
hahaha, posting this was worth it just to read some of the replies
I want to add a CB radio because it'd be super easy to keep in contact
with my three buddies when we all go cruising. and it is more like I watch
too much Top-Gear
Also When in the states I figured if it could pick up police airwaves
that could be entertaining, interesting or maybe even talking to
truckers. Maybe I am getting a little carried away. I guess I
wouldn't really be doing many long drives.
My thing that is preventing me from doing this is the fact that
I would have to install an antenna somewhere on her. Unless
someone knows if it is possible to hook up to current antenna?
Lastly, misterstyx69 gets it! if we band together and have CB's
we could rule a small area of a two lane road (assuming it is empty)
and everyone kept up there preventative maintenance,
and ensured
there apex seals are good...there are literally dozens of us, dozens!

The law enforcement agencies I know of now have 800 or 900 megahertz systems with most channels encripted. Scanners aren't even useful anymore. Was in the city and not sure how much truckers still use it. I suppose some...but Troopers also use to monitor it so it could be counterproductive if you're looking to be sneaky.
I think this is a great idea. Nothing like driving with your chaps and being able to decide on where to stop for tea without having to wave your arms like an idiot or yell out the window.

Cell phones don't really work that well unless you are in a city type environment.
You to have cell reception (around here the fun roads are often in no service areas).
If you are shutting a road down, you have a 4 way call going between the two parked in the road and the two driving and then no one can hear **** over the noises in the cars.
With CB you can turn the volume up in the car to "in an old POS truck with nothing to do but listen to the CB" levels and hear the two parked up the road while in your loud *** car without any broadcast noise when the two driving aren't transmitting.
Two way radios don't work for crap (line of sight, limited range). We struggle with these in our car club.

well he mentions the three of them when they go out cruising. so i see them all together. they would never be separated enough to be out of range of each other.
That is true. Except when they get separated and need to communicate to get back together...
I mean, if its just when they are cruising together I guess the obvious choices are learning sign language, semaphore or Morse code since they will be cheap or free to implement.
Anything else would be a waste of moneys!

G_rant, Yeah if and when I get around to following through on this. I will be sure to update here. So yeah when we all go out, we should never be out of range....until we are hah, it can happen pretty easily. Blue is definitely on my level with seeing the potential!
