Carburetor question
My Son bought an '84 Mazda RX-7 from a friend that was running pretty well when he bought the car a year or so ago, but it kept dying and eventually wouldn't start. My local mechanic, who's good but not a Mazda expert, told me it needed a new carburetor. My Son's buddy pulled the carburetor from the car and my question is: do you know of anybody or shop that could trouble shoot and or rebuild our carb? One guy told me there could be a lot of simple mechanical things that may need tweeking vs. rebuilding.
Thanks,
Seth

Damn, it did start!
My first step would be to replace the fuel filter.
If the filter did not work than rebuild the carb. If you are comfortable with Lego, you should be fine. There are many guides on carb rebuilds and contrary to belief in the piston world: The RX-7 was not developed by alien gods. Standard physics still apply.
service manual is linked below

Thanks Jeff and Richard! I appreciate your feedback and I should have replaced the fuel filter before they ripped out the carb. Anyway, my main question is do you guys know anyone or shop in the S.F. area who could take a peak at the carb that is now out of the car and troubleshoot and or rebuild? Many thx!
