Carb on a 6 port w/o 5-6 port sleeves
I have a 6 port engine I just installed in my vw drag bug ! I made a upper plenum for the intake manifold to fit a 600cfm Edelbrock carb.I removed the port sleeves in the process. The engine is running a custom header w/ about 30" long 2" primaries into a 2.5" collecter and a 3.5" freeflow silencer , [still very loud!]. Also I am running a distributor from a gen 1 w/MSD. My motor seems to run good but I havent had it out to the track yet. My question is ,will removeing those sleeves have a negative effect on a drag car ? or will it just flow better?

It's not going to matter on a drag car, since you'll be wringing it out the whole way down the track. With the sleeves out, you'll get a tiny bit better flow. The aux. port actuators/sleeves are useful on a street car, which will spend a lot of time under 3800 RPM.
