Car wont start

Okay I recently bought a 1986 FC with a re-built engine with 20k miles. The next day I turned on the car and it started fine idling at 800. The idle was going lower and my car suddently turned off. I thought it was just a problem with the engine being too cold or something. So then I started the car again and started revving to make the idle stay up. After that it was idling at 1.5k-1.7k and while i was waiting for the engine to heat up, the idle went back down to the normal 800 so then i thought everything was fine. When i drove for a while i parked the car. When I came back, I tried to start the car but the only thing I heard was the starter and my car trying to start but die down quickly. After Doing it again and again i only heard it clicking and nothing else. I left my car there and went off to work, called my friend to jump start it later after work.

So then I got off work and went back to my car with my friend. We jump started my car and everything was fine. I turned off the car and started it again. The car started but I only see that I have 8 volts. So I tried braking and my car suddenly turns off again and wont start. I could see that there was only 8 volts but suddenly nothing. So these are what I think the problems with the car is:

-Need a new alternator
-Something to do with one of the wires from the fuse box
-The battery
-Electrical problem

The owner before me said that it's probably the wire from the fuse box (not the main fuse box the one under the pedals) He said that one of the wires are taking more than it needs to from the battery.

What I'm going to do tomorrow is to see if my battery and alternator are good and if they are good then maybe it's an electrical problem. I hope that somebody knows how to fix this and hopefully they don't tow my car away (I parked in the Bank of America parking lot)

Has this car been sitting for a while?

Make the obvious checks: Check the condition of the battery cables, main ground cable, alternator cable, etc. Alternator failures are very common but if you are going by the stock voltage gauge, be aware that it isn't very accurate.

If the car has been sitting a while, then it needs a full and complete tuneup with an injector cleaning. All the throttle body linkages (especially the cold start cam) need to be checked for binding.

The car has been sitting for a little while but not by months just a few days. I went to schucks to go get my battery checked and they said that the battery had around 30 amps when it should have like 550 amps, everything else was okay (the volt etc.) Schucks charged my battery for an hour and when I came back, they said that it was a bad battery so then I replaced the battery and my car started up fine. But every time I start my car when its cold, it idles for a while and dies down. I just start it back up and its good to go but I'll go look into that problem. I'll go get my alternator checked and do the complete tune ups.

Thanks for your reply and I hope that I can fix whatever problems my fc has.
