Car dies when in traffic... Please help

Hello, I own a 1994 RX7 5spd mostly stock with few mods from previous owners.

Mods are HKS twin power, supra fuel pump, down pipes, koyo rad, spark plug wires and new plugs and six gauges.

Here's the problem, when I reach a stop or traffic I stop and than give it some gas to go forward a little my car will die, seem like it's not getting enough gas, I been driving a manual for over 20yrs and I know it's not me.

RPM will go down to 500 and die out, I have to give it gas to keep from dying, this only happens in stop and go situation and not at every stop, just stop and go.... Please help.

Thanks in advance

Is the IAC disconnected or removed?

Found out what IAC is, idle air control valve, I checked and everything is connected.

I smell lot of gas in oil and oil cap has yellow tint foam on it.....

Driving is fine, it's only when I stop fully and give it a little gas to go forwards few feet and stop causing my engine to die out, almost like it's not getting enough gas.

Help!!!

Are there any fuel mods besides the Supra fuel pump? Because if the pump is the only mod, the car will be running very rich which would explain your symptoms.

last night I installed a stock pump, thinking that's what's causing the gas in oil smell and did oil change with filter, checked the plugs and clean them...

I took it out for few hours and it still dies out, just like before, I'm stumped...

What you are having is idle issues. There are many threads on the topic. The typical causes are:
- The Throttle Body butterflies are out of adjustment. There are 3 spots to adjust the throttle body mechanical settings. If one or more of them are out of adjustment, it will affect idle airflow and also the Throttle Position Sensor
- The Throttle Positions Sensor is out of adjustment
- The Dashpot is out of adjustment or not working properly in general.

There are a few threads in the 3rd gen FAQ that can help you look into this issue. Check out these links.

Also check the Dashpot:

The foamy stuff in the oil filler cap is normal. Seems to happen at the changing of the seasons from condensation and stuff.

Additionally, I had a similar issue creeping in traffic. If your slave or master clutch cylindar has a slow leek past its internal rubber seal, you could get the same issue. Like even when you put it in, the clutch is still slightly enguaged in the same position, and the car dies. Hold your clutch pedal down for a few minutes, see if it sticks to the floor eventually. If it pops back up no problem, least you know that ain't it.

Start by looking at the dashpot.

My idle isn't low, but right after I start the car the thing basically tried to die. Drops to like 20 RPM, I don't know how it manages to stay alive sometimes. Probably helps that I usually plant my foot on the gas when it drops around there. If I tap the gas at all though, it doesn't happen. So I usually give it a little rev when she starts.

Yeah mine does it more cold start, when its warm out it just drops to like 500 RPM. Which lemme tell you, a rotary may not have vibration issues normally, but it sure shakes at 500 RPM.
