Can't find parts for my build...

Well, I hadn't been down to the Jefferson strip junkyards in about ten years and I had this idea that there would be hundreds of Datsuns and a handful of first gen RX's... Yeah, the stock ain't what it used to be. Of over a dozen yards, there was only one that even had an FB and it wasn't the one I was after. I've been scouring eBay, Craigslist and all kinds of forums looking for a GSL-SE rear end and front hubs, but no dice...

Is there a good source for stuff like this that I don't know about, or do I just need to keep my nose to the grindstone and my fingers crossed?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Patrick

Head to the regional boards and the South Forum. Myself, I hit the old US 287 stretch, Mansfield hwy, and check the salvage yards all up and down that street in Kennedale. I've only seen a couple of junked GSL-SE's in 20 years of trolling, though, so you are def in a hard place on that hunt. The folks in the classifieds and in the South Forum should be able to help you.

Your two best sources are going to be

www.mazdatrix.com

And the for sale section on this forum, you can always put up a want to buy section.

Keep searching. Parts are certainly drying up and cars get wrecked, rusted out, or crushed. The classified on here is a good place to check. Once you have some more posts, you could create a WTB ad stating what you are looking for.

Another good resource is:

www.car-part.com (search a network of junkyards across the country)

There are a few places that specialize in used RX-7 parts (google will turn up some results), but these guys know what SE rears are worth and will ask a pretty penny for what you are looking for. You would get a much better price at a normal wreckingyard.

There is a for sale section of this website which is a massive resource for used parts.

And when I think about it, Midwest 7's is a darn good supplier of hard-to-find parts for the FB's....I asked for JUST the driver's side rear brake caliper on an '84 disc brake rear end I salvaged and he had it in my hands in under a week and a half....he constantly trolls salvage yards and meets.

Hey, thanks for all the good info. I actually found a guy $200 worth of freight away who can hook me up with everything I need. There goes the build budget.
