Hey guys i just got a 93 rx7 and it turns out i blew out an apex seal on one of the rotors. what is the cheapest and most effective way to fix this problem. If i need a new motor does anyone know where the best place is to get that.

Hey everyone i have a 93 rx7 and i took it to the shop to have checked out and they told me my front rotors comp was only 66 but the rear was very good. The car still drives but it lost alot of power, it also doesnt smoke either... what could i have done to and how much damage could have happened?

The cheapest way is not the most effective way. You can have one, but not the other.

Either rebuild the engine or find a used replacement.

what would an average cost of a rebuild be. My back rotor has 166 compression and my front has 66 which is blown

k&d rotary told me they would do a rebuild for 2,500... If anyone knows if i would do better with buying a good engine let me know i am in need of some serious help

You aren't going to do much cheaper since you'll have to deal with shipping to other places. Someone else near your area (not next door though) would be these guys:

http://www.irperformance.com/

I would at least get a quote from them. Keep in mind that if you did toss a seal, it's possible there is other damage (i.e. turbos).

If it still has some compression, that's a good sign that a seal hasn't completely broken. If that's the case, you shouldn't have damage to the housing/rotor/irons to worry about. The engine parts should be largely re-useable, but it's impossible to say for sure until tolerances are checked after taking it apart. If the engine was left stock, there may be nothing you did wrong. The engine in FDs tend to not last as long as those found in the earlier gen cars. Steps can be taken to increase the reliability of the engine (see Reliability Mods in FAQ), but in stock form there's a lot of heat in that engine bay.

#1 Is the 66 lbs of compression even on all three pulses,or do you have one larger and 2 low, #2 what is the back compression reading in ( lbs ) #3 what were you doing when it changed #4 ,how many miles are on the car ,..... as for your low compression, causes are . poor rebuilds , broken apex seal s, ejected apex seal tip. rough\damaged rotor housing from poor oiling,or overheating from broken vac hoses leaky rad , or intake leak from a blown out gasket loose hoses , also poor fuel supply leading to a lean burn Overheat,or over boost, and lets not forget engine knock I have a rotor thats pushed in the rotor surface from overboost, and one more thing....... my mom said it could be a loose nut at the wheel( Just kidding)
