blocking off BAC?

i have a 1988 rx7 and i wanted to know if i could block off the BAC and not have my engine run bad or anything else?

Why would you want to?

And yes, if you block off the BAC, the engine will run badly. Without the BAC, the ECU cannot regulate idle. So your idle will change whenever the load on the engine changes, or you will have to crank the idle speed to compensate.

Long story short, there is no reason to disable the BAC.

well i just wanted to clean up the engine bay a little but since it will do that to the engine then never mind thank you

I will never understand the concept of "cleaning up the engine bay" by removing random stuff. Especially when it makes the car run worse.

Bypass Air Control valve. It is the idle valve which controls engine idle speed. Other manufacturers call it an IAC.

You'll find all this info in the Factory Service Manual. You can download a free copy from the FAQ.

Oh IAC, yea why in the world would you want to eliminate that?? Very bad idea cuz your car will idle like **** and may stall all the time
