better brakes

i have an 84gs but wanted to upgrade my brakes to the fc brakes but wasnt sure which ones are better or if theres any difference with size, lug pattern or caliper differences

Presumably you are referring to the 4 pot FC brakes, and not the single piston which are almost exactly the same as the 1st gen brakes.

Nothing bolts on. You will need an adapter kit such as the one made by ReSpeed. This kit uses the FC hub which is 5 lug, meaning you will need new wheels (and you would in any case because the 4 piston caliper won't fit under the 1st gen wheels).

yeah i was just looking at the respeed ones. they said to get the hub from an 88-91 turbo II. did those have the larger calipers also? and is that a 5x114.5 pattern?

All the TIIs had the same 4 piston calipers. Actually, all 4 piston RX-7s have the same calipers and bolt pattern.
