Belt and door light

I recently purchased a 1986mazda RX7. The owner I bought it from took out the stock seats and seat belts because of this I believe that is why the belt light is on however it stays on even when the car is turned off and keys out of the ignition the only way to turn it off is to kill the battery. I am worried it is going to drain the battery. However when I turn the lights on interior or headlights it goes off and the door light comes on. Is there anyway to bypass the Belt light or what might be causing this?

You could simply remove the light bulb or you can address the wire which causes the light to turn on. If the wire (it's a Green/Black wire) has a ground signal to it the light comes on thus you want to have voltage on it instead of a ground. The easiest thing, again, is to just remove the bulb (takes about 10 minutes if that).
